Korean Drama Review: The World of The Married Ep 12

Angry and frustrated. This is how I felt during the watching of episode 12 of The World of The Married.

Let’s first start with Ji Sun Woo. I know she is the lead and we are supposed to root for her. I know she is trying her best to be a good mum but there are times when I just don’t agree with her actions.

A Presumptuous Ji Sun Woo Who Cannot Cut Ties Off with Lee Tae Oh

First and foremost, why must she go and try to resolve the issue for Lee Tae Oh at the scene of the Go San murder? Given that Lee Tae Oh is such a jerk and totally someone to avoid, based on recent escapades like how he will hire people to scare her, she should just steer clear of him. And not butt in for matters not concerning her.

I don’t like how Ji Sun Woo has the tendency to be presumptuous and take matters into her own hands. Even resorting to lying for Lee Tae Oh to prove his alibi. I get it that she is trying to prevent her son from being labelled as a murderer’s son just in case Lee Tae Oh is involved in the murder but I still think she should just cut herself off from him unless absolutely necessary. She does not need to complicate issues by lying for him. ( in fact while I was watching I was even wondering if there may be the possibility of the tables turned and Lee Tae Oh accusing her of murder instead after she helped him. That is how much I distrust him and his father-in-law.)

JI Sun Woo’s Poor Communication with Son Joon Young

Next, let me rant on about Ji Sun Woo’s inept communication skills with her son. I really feel frustrated whenever I see how she treats her son. She doesn’t quite understand him and overly compensates by being very nice to him even when he is being an annoying brat.

When he sometimes finally acts up and spills a bit on why he is angry eg.due to the rumours of her involved with the deceased guy, she shuts him off and doesn’t bother explaining more to win his trust. Then once again, she takes matters into her own hands and went straight to threaten his son’s classmate’s mum for spreading such rumour.

I do get it that she is very cool and ballsy and actively puts people in their place for rumour mongering. However she needs to learn to be more sensitive to Joon Young because this will impact her son and may even cause more trouble for him in school. As such, seeing the way Ji Sun Woo reacts to her son’s matters can be incredibly frustrating and I don’t wonder why her son likes to give her attitude from time to time.

Joon Young – A Disloyal Son that Annoys Me

Another incredibly annoying person – Sun Woo’s son!

I mean..talk about an ungrateful and disloyal son. How can Joon Young even think of listening to the woman who broke up his family and choose to move in with her and his father? How incredibly hurtful would it be to his poor mum!

Ji Sun Woo may have her faults..but she is obviously the party who got cheated on,so there is no way he should be siding with the mistress and even being polite and nice to her.

Da Kyung – A Conniving Mistress

Da Kyung is just as irritating by having the gall to meet up with Joon Young individually and goading him to leave Ji Sun Woo and to persuade his mum to leave town. How very manipulative and selfish, by branding it as doing it for Joon Young’s good.

Hence it was nice to see her being yelled at by Tae Oh.

Interestingly, finally Tae Oh does not annoy me in Ep 12. He seems to have realise the good of Ji Sun Woo at long last after realising that she is the only one to come to his rescue when he was detained in the police station for the murder investigation, with the contrast being especially prominent when his calls for help to his now new wife and father-in-law went unanswered.

After all the ups and downs of this episode, it ended with Sun Woo and Tae Oh rekindling their passion for each other. Sigh..nothing would have happened if you guys just continued with your marriage in the first place and Tae Oh to have the sense to wake up from the lame affair right from the start.
